I have have allergies and am very allergic to cat hair and mold, and dust mites my allergies were not bothering me since fall now in december since Ive lived in my new house my alleriges are driving me insane! Especially my eyes..they run constantly and itch like crazy and swell huge. you name it I have tried taking it to relieve this, Ive been vacuuming(with a bagless vacuum) and dusting everyday sometimes twice a day, changed the blinds that was left here..my eyes have never been as bad as they have been since I moved into this house. Its a newer townhouse so I dont think its mold inside . I am almost positive the previous tenants had a cat or cats (one of the top 3 things that do this to me. )my eyes are sore raw and red, makeup wont stay on even waterproof slides right off and at times I cant even get it go on..my eyes stay swollen constantly.and the itching is insane…I just moved in, and with christmas I dont have alot of money but need to rid this place of cat dander..is there anything I can do to get it all out of my house?

  1. 3 months was plenty of time to get rid of the dander, especially with all the vaccumming you are doing now. I would think you have a NEW allergie, and/or you are now more sensitive to the dust, vacuuming/dusting reallllllly kicks up dust. You will never get it all. There really is no way to get rid of every allergen unless you lived in a bubble. Maybe look into a daily OTC allergy medication such as Claratin. I had to do that for a few month this spring when I developed an allergy to tree pollen.

  2. You could try shampooing all of the fabric area in the house. The machines are fairly cheap to rent and they work well. Clean well inside the heating ducts.

  3. oh my cat sheds like crazy…its very irritating.

i have allergies as well…but i recently got a Dyson sweeper and i sweep the house reguarly with it and i have noticed my allergies have gotten better and theres much less cat hair…
    the sweeper is amazing. lol

  4. Get a roller paint brush, wrap the roller in masking tape with the tape facing out, go over all of your furniture. Change the tape out and do the same thing with your floors. Wash all of your fabrics including blankets, towels, and seasonal clothes that stay in the closets. If you have central heat/air, have a professional come out and clean them. Last, but not least, have your carpet cleaned by a professional.

  5. Yes, get a good air purifier that is designed specifically to remove allergens from the environment. There are many on the market in a wide price range, so read reviews to decide what function is important for you and what you can afford.
    Best of luck!
