And why? Looking for a good inexpensive vacuum and haven’t had to buy one in over 10 years and am a bit overwhelmed with the choices available.

I recently bought a bagless after using ones with bags forever. I bought a Bissel Pet Hair Eraser (paid 200 bucks for it) and I love it. I hated messing with the bags. I find it easier to just dump the canister after I’m done vacuuming. Also if you accidently sweep up something you can retrieve it much easier.
I always used cheap Walmart vacuums and I can tell a huge difference with a nicer one. The Bissel picks up tons of dirt and pet hair that my old one missed.
Bag-less is better, but you might want to invest in a bit better machine, since they do a MUCH better job.
I have a Dyson, the best vacuum I’ve ever had. It’s bagless and does an amazing job. The drawback is, they are $400-$500 depending where you live but my sister got the identical machine on craigs list for $75!!!
Have a look, it’s worth it.

it depends on the person and the vac! i have a bagless i love it but @ my parents(which i still use)they have a bag vac and its not so bad!
I like the bagless better. I have got one and i love it.
Bagless is better in my opinion because you can clean it out as often as you need without having to buy new bags. You can also clean the filter very easily.
Bagged vacuums can go longer without being changed. They seem to have more storage, but they are a pain. I always lose the bags and have to buy new ones, or run out.
I really liked my Hoover bagless for carpet. It was $70 at Sears.
Now I have a bagged canister vacuum for hardwood floors since we moved.
