What is the best vacuum for hardwood floors? I need one with a bag.?

I have two dogs and forced air heat….making for lots of dust bunnies. My new vacuum acts like a leaf blower and blows it all up into the air. I need one with a bag since I have asthma and would not be able to empty the containers on a bagless. Thank you in advance!!

  1. Although they are expensive i totally believe in Kirby’s. I grew up with a Kirby and also own one. In addition to this I also sold them for a while. I believe in them 100%. Their bags are also good for allergies… And best of all you can have it demonstrated for you first before you buy it. This way you will be able to see if it blows it around like a "leaf blower" before you buy it. They are a lifetime vaccuum. And you can do much more with them other than vaccuum. You could even buff your hardwood floors if needed and have the attachments. You can go to kirby.com to find a dealer near you. Its worth the demonstration to find out more and the demo will cost you nothing. The demo will take about 1-2 hrs of your time. They are awesome machines and worth the time even if you dont buy.

  2. I agree Kirbys are the best vacs by far, but if you have a specific need like lots of hardwood floors, consider a cannister vacuum. The leaf blower effect is from your upright’s exhaust blowing the filtered air in front of you. A cannister’s exhaust is behind you in the main body. If you have 100% hard surfaces, then you don’t need a powerhead with a revolving rollerbrush. If you have any carpet whatsoever, get one with a switch that can turn the rollerbrush on and off.
