My eureka capture upright bag less vacuum is not sucking up anything

My eureka capture upright bagless vacuum is not sucking up anything and it is smoking. I have opened the hose and taken out a huge clog. I checked to make sure the clog was completely removed and it is. I have checked the belt. It looks fine and not worn out at all. I have cleaned the strings and hairs and such off of the brush roller and replaced it. I took out the parts that have to be cleaned (filter, plastic part about the dirt collecting canister) and cleaned them all, waited for them to dry and replaced them. After all this maintenence, I still have problems getting my vaccuum cleaner to work. Is there anything else I can do to fix this problem? Should I just get rid of this piece of junk? I have read through reviews online (after purchasing it, stupid me) and they are all bad. Are bag vacuums better or are bagless vacuums better when it comes to having to maintain them. I think I would almost rather replace a bag, than go through all this trouble with a bagless one.

  1. most times when it smokes it means the belt was slipping…which means you need to replace it……..you may check this….if you have a hose attachment try using just the hose…..if it picks up then replace belt…..if it dont then you probably need to replace the machine………i recently bought a ureka at Wal Mart for about 70 dollars and i like it .it is baggless a bit more work involved …cleaning filters and waiting for them to dry…….but with the bag machines i have found that i was always out of bags so the carpets didnt get done…then when i would be at the store and remembered that i needed bags they didnt have the type………..if you sprinkle that smell good powder on the carpets before vaccuming that will tend to clog the filter quiker…….O 1 other thing when you remove the cannister look up where it attaches to there may be a slotted cup that is removable and may need cleaning

  2. You’ve done an amazing job on your own! I thought I was the only one who virtually took the — thing apart. I think the only other problem now is an air leak somewhere. Internal hose rip or disconnect, rubber gasket missing or misaligned, filter on backwards, etc …….all not allowing air suction. I’d probably just heave the beast. I did my bagless for less reason than you have.

  3. Is it smoke or dust? If smoke, then where is the smoke coming from?
If the belt – then you got to figure out where it is locked up.
If the motor, then probably need to trash it.

Once the smoke comes out of electrical parts, it is almost impossible to get it back in and better to just replace it.

  4. I only wish that those vacuums would suck…..!

as it is…..I have problems with mine about every other time that I try to use it.
