I’m not a very technical person, so I apologize for the brevity. I have a vacuum cleaner which I’ve owned for less than a year. I don’t have a manual for it, so I can’t consult that.
All I know is this… it used to work great, and the more it’s used, the less it works. Now it doesn’t suck up anything at all, except through the optional hose. It’s bagless but I always pour out the dirt when I’m done.
Any general ideas? I don’t know anything about vacuums but I’m guessing maybe something is clogged in the bottom? It’s really frustrating to try to suction an entire room with a 1×1 inch hose! haha. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
sounds like a broken belt, or a clogged hose. First, turn the vacuum on, then lift up the vacuum and look underneath- see if the brushes are turning. If they aren’t, you need a replacement belt (usually under $5) you can get it wherever you bought your vac. You may need a screwdriver to replce it. Or, you have a clogged hose. in that case, find where your hose is connected to your vacuum. Unscrew the hose. unclog it, screw it back, and your good to go. Some vacs have a place that you can clean the hose by turning and clicking where the hose connects. No tools needed. Good luck, hope this helps. The belt looks like a big rubber band…
Check & see if the brushes are moving when turned on. It sounds as though the belt that drives the brushes is not working correctly!!!
Sounds like the brushes to me too… depending on the vacuum… All steps are different..
So my kirby..
1. put the base alll the way up so the brush cant touch the floor..
2. attach the top of the brush extension to the vacuum with the turn front handel.
3. then turn the "belt" knob so the belt is resting ont the inner fan turner part.
4. turn on vacuum and hit the foot petal till the vacuum is resting on the floor with Good suction. Then pop it up one so it can get everything.
You know another thing to do… look it up on google.com or ask.com
Try to figure out the brand or anything about it.
And look up "Kirby" how to… or "Kirby manuals"
Good Luck..
Also if you could take the thing apart.. something could be clogging the fan or between the fan and the dirt container.
