finally- NO lines in carpet!,
I’m a neat freak. I also have three cats, three birds, a husband who works from home, and a six-year-old. So, needless to say, I’ve gone through a lot of vacuums. I now have a Dyson, but it’s a bit of a bear at times, and to be honest, I’m not always sure it does such a great job on my carpets.
I have to admit, when I tried the Panasonic, I couldn’t tell the immediate difference. I called in my mom, another neat freak (she’s taught me all my tricks) and she wanted to give it a whirl. She loves to vacuum. I know that sounds weird to non-vacuumers, but it’s her thing.
She LOVED this vacuum. LOVED it. This woman has test drove or owned every vacuum on the market and she was absolutely thrilled with the Panasonic. Her take:
– It’s little easier to handle, but not so lightweight that it’s flimsy.
– The attachments are on board and easy to pull out and us.
– The long, retractable cord is GREAT. No more extension cords and having to wrap up miles of cord after vacuuming. Much easier to pull out for quick pick ups.
– Moves around great and glides on solid floors (she’s got hardwood, I have bamboo laminate).
– This was a HUGE thing for her: does NOT leave tracks on carpet. I have sort of a medium nubby carpet (which LOVES bird seed) and she’s got a high pile carpet and she loved the way it glided over the carpet easily, sucking everything up but not leaving tracks all over the place.
– The way the vacuum is built is that it’s sort of tilted down- the “nose” of the vacuum is pointed towards the floor and the back is elevated a bit so it’s sort of rolls easier but still is in a position to really deep clean.
– Finally, the color- it’s a beautiful color. I wish someone would make a vacuum in a beautiful blue….
Overall, this was a hit. It’s easy to handle, but not flimsy. It’s well engineered. It’s got features that Mr. Dyson needs to look into (retractable cord, softer wheels, tilted forward nose). So this was a win for us.

Solid 4 stars: Powerful, light, room for improvement.,
I currently own a Panasonic vacuum: it’s an older model – big red thing – heavy as sin. I didn’t expect much from this replacement, but it really attacks carpets and does a decent job!
PROS:
– Lightweight. YAY. Has a smaller footprint than my older vacuum too.
– Bagless. Do ANY vacuums still use a bag anymore!?
– Looks cool. A metalic purple vacuum is going to be the only item I’ll ever allow to be metallic purple.
– All attachements fit ON BOARD. FINALLY: No more random vacuum parts at the back of my closet!
– Retractable cord! YAY! Any appliance that you need to move around (clothes iron, etc) should have a retractable cord! It’s awesome.
– Foot switches. To turn it on or off, retract the cord, or switch to bare floor mode – all can be done with your foot.
– Powerful! It really tears up them carpets – leaves good lines too. Really does a good job scrubbing!

CONS:
– Canister is a little on the small side. Not really a concern for me – I live alone and have no pets so it’s OK for me.
– Dust gets caught in the base. After vacumming a lot, take a look at the base of the unit where the agitator is: you’ll find a clump of dust jammed in the corner. Kind of a bummer. You have to scrape it out.
– Canister rubber seal moves: When I open the canister, the rubber seal between the upper and lower part of the canister comes off. I have to push it back into place each time. Poorly made. Kind of sad.

BUT. Overall, it works really well. Easy to maneuver, powerful, makes the carpets look great, and takes up less space than my old one. I approve.
