I don’t know what stores are in your area, but there are "stick vacuums" that might fit your purpose. Walmart, Kmart, Target, Zeller’s….these stores would probaly have them.
I have a dirt devil that I use for small daily jobs. You can get it at Wal-Mart and I am sure many other places carry it.
It works very well and is light weight.
