  1. As said, Dyson is best but expensive. A cheaper alternate would be a Hoover bagless upright, 12 amps. Panasonic is good. Bissell. I’ve seen them for under $ 200.00. Don’t get a Dirt Devil…

  2. ive bought alot of vacs and they just kept breaking after a few months, so i bought a Kirby, its expensive about $ 2,300.00 but Ive had it along time and still going strong. Its also a shampooer works great.

  3. Rainbow, but it is very expensive. Sorry to tell you, but if you are looking for “The best”, you are going to have to pay for it.

  4. First, the best vacuum is a matter of opinon. Apparently some opinions believe Dyson. Better Homes & Garden tested Dyson and agreed with the advertising that they do not loose suction but stated they don’t have very good suction to begin with. So… Are you wanting a good vacuum for general inside the house cleaning of carpet? It makes a difference what you want it for which one you should get. If you also want to do bare floors then you want one that can do both well, if it is just carpet then the floor adjustment or attachments aren’t that important. Do you have indoor/outdoor, berber or sculptured carpet? The thicker the carpet the more you need that beater bar/brush and good suction. If you just have the flat indoor/outdoor then you can get away with less. Also do you want a cannister or upright? Bag or bagless. It used to be if you had bare floors or wanted attachments you had to get a cannister, but if you wanted a beater brush you had to get an upright. They pretty much both can handle either now days so it really depends on what you like. Bag or bagless? I like the bagless because you can actually see what you pickup which I think makes you clean better. However they are a bit messy to empty (though nothing like the competitors show on TV), the tap clean filters needs cleaned better than shown on TV. And while you don’t have the bother or cost of the bags, those filters need replaced and they are expensive! Are you more confused than you were? So with all that in mind here is my suggestion to get the best vacuum for your money. Go to a vacuum repair shop, buy yourself a good used commercial vacuum. It will be clean and refurbished working as good as new and since it is for commercial use it will usually be a bit more powerful that the home models and if anything goes wrong you know where to take it. Another advantage in a commercial vac is the cords are usually longer. If when you get to the shop you are still confused just tell them what you need the vac for and they can give you suggestions tailored just for you and you will save a bunch of money.
One more thing, how you vacuum is really a lot more important than what brand you use.
