I currently have a Bissell bagless. It just seems where I live (rural area) I am vacuuming 3-4 times a week and although I take the vacuum apart and clean regularly, it just doesn’t seem to pick-up like I think it should.
Anyone have an opinion on the Dyson vacuum cleaners? I am considering purchasing one and would like to know what you like or dislike about it. Thank you
I LOVE mine! I had a Kirby for a few years and was never all that thrilled with it. I was always told those were one of the best vacuums you could buy (I would hope so for the amount of money I spent for it). I went and bought a Dyson Animal and am soooooo much happier with it. I am constantly recommending it to people. In fact, my boss actually had me order one for him since I talked about it so much! :o)
My favorite part about the Dyson is how you can see how well its working by how often you have to empty the collection chamber. I’ve heard some people complain about it not holding enough, but I look at it like it’s actually doing an awesome job if I have to empty it a couple of times in one vacuuming session. And this is when I vacuum twice a week!
Also, I love how easy it is to go from carpet to hard floors. Since I have a lot of tile in my house, it’s nice to be able to vacuum the floors then go straight to cleaning the tile without having to pull out the broom. Plus, you can easily pull out the hose from the handle to clean corners, tight spaces, etc. without having to fumble with attachments.
Even though $500 is a lot of money for a vacuum (I stupidly spent more for my Kirby), the Dyson is definately worth every penny!
I have a Dyson but still hoover 3-4 times a week anyway (mind you I have 3 cats)… they are good though – its so satisfying seeing all the crap that gets sucked up and you really notice the difference in the carpets. Ive had mine for about 6 years now and its still going strong.
I have several friends with Dyson’s and they absolutely LOVE them. One has the "Pet Hair" Dyson, and she swears it’s the best vacuum she has ever owned for getting up pet hair. My boss has one, and he said he’ll never buy another brand. I went to buy one last fall, but they were all out, and I needed a vacuum that day (We have messy birds!) I’m still disappointed I didn’t get my Dyson!
I have the purple dyson animal 07. I love it for the most part. You wouldn’t believe how much that thing picked up the first time, and still picks up. That being said, I got a special deal on mine or I wouldn’t have bought it. It was on sale at Kohls for $450, and then I got about $100 Kohls cash back when I purchased it, and a $100 Kohl’s gift card by mail, making the Dyson about $250. It’s a good vacuum, but not worth $500. There are comparable vacuums out there in the $200- $300 range (Oreck IS NOT one of them, don’t get an Oreck).
It’s very easy to empty, but here’s the thing, no matter how good the suction is, the roller still gets clogged and tangled with hair. I have long hair, and we have a golden retriever, so I’m cleaning that roller about every other week. And it makes a really bad sound when it gets too tangled. But I think that would be the case with any vacuum.
It is easy to use, and pretty. I think the attachments are also a little pricey. I do like the cleaner, Zorba, that comes with it.
I have a dc15 ball dyson. I love it it sucks up everything. it really works great. and with the lifetime filter i wash that about once a month. the cons.. I like using the floor attachment for the hose for hard floors than the head of the vacuum. but other than that I looooove it!!! plus i like the way it manuveurs easier than others. some say not having a light on this one makes it difficult to see in small places. I have not had that problem.
It is an outstanding vacuum cleaner!
If you have any kind of pet, it is worth every penny on it. Great vaccuum…but like there are other very comparable ones… Best Buy sells a brand called "Infinity"….it works just as great and costs less than a Dyson! They have a pet version as well!
I think they rank right up there with Oreck.. they are top of the line, I used one in cleaning business and it was great.
I just brought home a new DC15 Animal. My first impression while unpacking was that the plastic felt very cheap and flimsy. This was for the main upright vacuum as well as the attachments.
After turning it on and cleaning a very small section of the floor I was quite surprised by what was picked up. The carpet needed vacuuming, so I wasn’t at all surprised by the dirt.
Much of what accumulated in the canister was carpet fiber, even after a second or third cleaning. So much in fact, that I have to question whether it is causing damage to the carpet, not just removing loose fibers. This was on a pile type carpet, there was very little fiber after vacuuming a berber carpet.
Releasing the support wheels to activate the brush is somewhat awkward. Hopefully I’ll get more used to it and this won’t be an issue.
I’m optimistic that it will work well, but time will tell…
I DONT OWN A DYSON BUT IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THEY ARE EXTREMELY OVER PRICED EVEN IF THEY DONT LOOSE ANY SUCTION.THEY ALSO SEEM TO HAVE MADE IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT ONE, THERES ONES FOR SOFT FLOORS, HARD FLOORS, ALERGY SUFERERS, PET OWNERS, UPRIGHTS, CYLINDERS AND EVEN DIFFERENT MODELS WITH DIFFERENT FILTERS WHICH ADDS TO THE COST. PERSONALLY I WOULDNT BOTHER, I HAVE A NILFISK FAMILY AND ITS GREAT
