Eureka Altima Bagless Vacuum?

1

We got this recently and it’s already having suction problems. First – a small sock like type of material got sucked in it, after that the suction didn’t work. I replaced the belt, the suction worked but the brush isn’t rolling anymore. Then after vaccuming a few more minutes the suction isn’t working again. I also started getting the burnt smell from it. I stopped using it and checked the belt… it’s still there intact. What could be wrong?

Is there a place where I can get maybe a new rolling brush for it and see if that’ll work? If you’ve had this vaccum before did you have the same problem? How did you fix it? Do you think getting a part replacement is worth it?

  1. The burnt smell you are getting is probably because the belt is turning but the roller is not. Try taking the roller out and see if the bearings inside the end pieces are turning. The end pieces should turn freely. Chances are these bearings are either locked up because of something wrapped around them, or the bearings are locking up due to rust and corrosion. I’ve seen both things happen. If they don’t turn then pop the plastic covers off with your hands or pry them off with a flat screwdriver and clean the bearings up real good and spray with WD-40. GOOD LUCK!!! P.S. Make sure to check the entire vacuum completely for any more pieces of the sock.
