My vacuum smells bad when I run it.. I need to vacuum but the smell is unbearable.. How can I clean it out and remove the odor that it is emmitting? Ive used baking soda, antibacterial powder…Nothing has worked!! PLEASE HELP!! it is a hoover bagless fold away..
I far and away prefer the bagless vacuums for that reason. But…To fix this borrow a friends vacuum and vacuum your vacuum. Then put in a fresh bag and spread baking soda on the things you normally vacuum let it sit overnight if possible then vacuum it all up.
If it’s the kind with a washable filter (probably is) remove the filter and wash it well with soap and water. Then let it dry THOROUGHLY while sitting on a rack or something that will let air flow under it. The smell is caused by putting the filter back in before it’s completely dry.
Wash the filter. If that doesn’t work, then go online to buy a new one. Usually replacement filters aren’t that costly – usually between $10 – $20.
