Need advice on new vacuum!?

8

I need a new vacuum that doesn’t get all clogged up with hair on the roller. My vacuum now works ok, but the roller on the bottom gets clogged very fast with long hair.
Any advice on a vacuum with good suction power and has no problem with long hair? I’d like a bagless one if possible!

  1. There is not a vacuum on the market that long hair doesn’t get wrapped around the brushes. If there are brushes on the bottom, the hair gets stuck.

I just bought another Oreck after ten years with my old one. They are very light, and easy to take apart and pull or cut the hair off the brushes. I too have long hair, and after every vacuum I flip the vacuum over and cut the masses of hair off the beater brush.

If the tube gets clogged, the Oreck tube comes apart, and is very easy to dis-lodge a clog.

The bags are not much more than any other vacuum on the market. I have pets, so I buy the slightly more expensive bags with the carbon lining.

My friend loved my vacuum so much that she took my old one. If cost her only $50 to put a new cord on it, and it works like new again.

Oh, I also have a central vacuum system, but the tubes are so long, and it is heavy and clumsy to use, so I still use a regular vacuum.

  2. If you have a lot of long hair on the rug, any vacuum will clog, if it has rollers on it. You’ll either have to clean it each time or buy a vacuum like the older kind w/no roller, like a wet/dry vacuum, and they work really well too, I use it on occasion for diry areas basement and garage, so forth.

  3. Traet yourself to an Oreck upright. You should be able to get one for about $200. I have cleaned 2 homes per day since 1980. My first Oreck came when I was cleaning up after a long haired Persian cat and I have used them ever since. Light weight, high speed fan and lays flat. It will last you a long time. You will love it!

  4. I have a Bissell healthy home model sweeper and I really like it. Pet hair is an issue in my house as we have 3 dogs and 4 cats and every Bissell I’ve had has done well. Can’t say the same for Hoover!

This Healthy Home model is the best one yet! It’s got sealed HEPA filtration, multi-cyclonic suction and a ton of other great features! Yeah, it’s more expensive – about $250 but if you watch you can get it on sale for around $200. And it is worth every penny!

My old Bissell didn’t die after about 5 years of battling old carpets, pets & kids, the catch that hold it upright broke off and was driving my husband nuts when he ran it because it kept falling over on him. That one was relegated to his wood shop and is now the dust collector for his table saw and his miter saw. He loves the bag-less! Men! LOL
