Can’t afford a new Electrolux. If I spend 0+ on repairing, after 20 years, how long would it last? If I did buy a new one, what brand would anyone recommend? They all seem so plasticy! Also, bags or bagless??? Any suggestions?

  1. Anything you buy now is cheaper then what you paid 20 years ago.

Buy anything you want, but stay away from the Dirt Devil brands. They are crap.

Hoovers are good. But, pretty much anything is good now-a-days.

  2. Just don’t buy a Dyson. When they work they are fantastic but we got through three in three years.

We have gone back to Electrolux.

But as you rightly point out they are all really flimsy now and not built to last.

  3. If repair cost outweighs a new Electrolux but something else…Electrolux is one of the best though…Depends if you have carpet or hardwood floors or both.A rainbow is the best in my opion but they are high…if you’re on a budget as most of us are buy an Oreck they are good and are afordable…another thing look around in the newspapers, and go to some yard sales…my friend bought a Rainbow Vacuum that was a year old for 35.00 that was a bargain look around and save youself some money…maybe your neighbor/friend has an extra and would sell it…shop around a bit..hope I’ve helped
