Vacuum smells like dog?

3

Just recently got a used vacuum from a friend. Said she used it only a handful of times but it smells of wet dog and we have no animals, so you could imagine it’s quite foul to us. It is a bagless vacuum. Will just cleaning the chamber and such take that away, or is there a way to more extensively clean this?

  1. baking soda is great for getting smells out if its a filter that you cant wash try hoovering up a bag of bread soda and leaving it in there before you empty it. it might be hard to wash a lot of the internal bits out with water but if you can add baking soda to the water too. you can even put it onto carpets that smell and leave a while then you will be doing two jobs!

  2. Yes cleaning it with vinegar and water should kill the bacteria in which you are Really Smelling.
Just fill the sink up and pour a 1/2 cup of vinegar add a little bit of liquid soap and let it soak for an hour.Once everything is dry put back together.
Also you can take some vacuum powder that kind that smells sprinkle it in one place and vacuum that up to help pull the powder through to the vacuum that should also help absorb any oils the the dog fur leaves. I know what a pain but vacuums aren’t cheap and if you can fix it yourself why not right. Good Luck!
