  1. Go to a vacuum repair shop. You can get 2nd hand, rebuilt vacuums for 1/2 the price of new. Ask questions. Which one of these vaccums need the least repairs or less costly repairs. Are parts available or parts become discontinued soon after new model on the market. Go to more than one repair shop. Not only you get a quality vaccum for less money but you have an expert to ask questions that very, very few sales staff in discount stores can answer. If still want new, at least you have an insight from experts.

  2. Don’t waste your money. Any vacuum you can buy new for less than $150 is more or less disposable. You’ll probably be buying another one in a year or two. Spend a bit more and get one that will last, you’ll save money in the long run. The other poster gave good advice. Go to a vacuum specialty store and buy a better quality used one.
