Wal mart has a small $39 Dirt Devil which has two filters and it is very light and powerful.
The best vacuum is really no regular vacuum. Vacuum cleaners pick up God knows what lying on the floor and blow it all over Texas so you can breath it deep into your lungs.
Here is what I did – it is so simple it would make a cow laugh.
Buy about 25 feet of 2" diameter flexible hose. Open the vacuum cleaner and take off the bag. Use some really good 2" wide vinyl tape and tape the flex hose to the motor output where the dirt comes out.
The other end of the flex hose goes to the commode. Push the end of the hose into the commode drain about 6 inches so that it will stay put while you vacuum. Tie the hose if necessary so it will not slip out while you vacuum.
Every bit of dirt sucked into the vacuum, right down to the size of a freaking electron or even a cosmic particle, will be blown into the commode drain and you will never have to see it or breathe it again! Flush the commode and remove the hose. Bag the end of the hose with a plastic bag.
