I have a dirt devil bagless vacuum. I have cleaned the filters. checked the hoses. I called vacuum service center and they said to try a new belt. What would a belt have to do with the sucktion?
I won’t pay more than 0.00 for a vacuum. The one I have I bought a year ago. for 0.00 work great for about 9 months.
I also have 2 dogs. The vacuum center said bagless vacuums are not good for animals.
I have also heard that the canisters are better.

everything that you have heard is true. most bagless, AND I HATE DYSON, and horrid a pet hair. try looking at Kenmore canisters. they might be a bit over what you want to pay for, but i am sure that you will be happy. (i have one). also, so you know you can trust me, i am a vacuum coleter with 15 vacuums
I also have 2 dogs. After buying 2 vacuums(Including the dirt devail baglees) over the last 4 years – I broke down and bought the Dyson. I got lucky though, because even though it was $399.00, Target had a special and were giving away a $100 Target gift card if you bought one that week.
I went home and vacuumed the same room that I had done that very morning, and FILLED the canister of the new vacuum.
Never again will I go back to a "cheap" vacuum!!
the belt has a lot to do with the suction. if the belt is broke it wont work right.
In most cases, if the motor makes noise, it will suck. Take off the hose and feel right at the vacuum itself. If there is suction there and not when the hose is put on-hose is leaky. If there is no suction at the vacuum, check to see that it is closed up proper and all the seals are there and they are doing the job they are suppose to do. If it is sucking past the seals, it isn’t going out the hose, is it? This applies to all vacuums.
I had the same problem with mine and upon examination … my belt was broke. I thought i would fix that first and get on with trying to figure out the suction problem afterwards. After i got the belt on i tested it out and sure enough it was working again. Try it. It may be the problem.
Oh a belt is part of vacum that is located under the vacum this normal wear and tear from use a simple vacum belt should cost $20.00 at wal-mart it need to be change every 3 months. It part of what makes the vacum operate to good function call any vacum place they will tell you just the thing i did. I have both kinds metal & bagless. I also hear the fliter part of bagless ones have be change every couple of months as well it about 20.00 as well at wal-mart
The belt actually runs the brush on the bottom. So, if the belt is broken or not tight enough, and the brush doesn’t turn, the vacuum won’t pick anything up, regardless of how powerful the suction is.
I have two dogs as well and I have tried many vacuums. I think that it’s stopped up either inside the bottom underneath the roller bristles or further up into the hoses. Unplug you will have to loosen some screws to find where the problem is. I have used a long screwdriver to get as far into it as possible. It can be very frustrating. I went back to a Hoover and it has lasted as long as anything. The only thing a belt does is move the beater bar. Good Luck!
Your vacuum may need to be serviced… A similar problem happened to me and when I took it to be repaired the brush had broken.. .It’s good to remember with vacuums that they do require some service.. A good annual clean and check is a necessity. I have a dog, children and vacuum everyday- So my vacuum needs annual maintance. I’ve had my Hoover SAVVY for 4 yrs. and have no trouble, I also bought the extended service warranty for the extra 3 yrs. of coverage.. This covers any repairs to the vacuum. Bagless vacuum are all right but, I miss my old fashioned bag vacuum… good luck
