Do you own a canister vacuum?

3

My vacuum got zapped by an outlet in my house and I am in need of a new one. I had a Kenmore Whispertone for 9 years-they do not make them anymore. Been doing research and I definitely do not want a bagless. I am alergic to dust and mold spores. Just wondering what you have and how well it works. Thanks for your help!

  1. I also spent 10 loving yrs with my Kenmore canister. When it died I bought a new bissel upright. It’s a bagless with hepa filtering. I also have 2 cats and allergies. This thing is FANTASTIC it has a red light on it that tells you when your floor or carpet is actually clean.

  2. Hi Cindy
I purchased my first canister-type a couple of years back, and I’ll never go back to an upright!
Mine is a Panasonic, and it requires a bag. Since I have wood floors with area rugs, I love how I can go from the vacuum head to the bare-floor attachment easily to get them both clean…and not to mention the upholstery and dusting attachments 🙂 Honest to god, you can clean your entire home with the darn thing.
I paid about $300 for mine Cindy. Now my friend purchased an Electrolux canister. It was about $100 more than mine, but I don’t know if it was worth the difference. The suction is slightly more powerful and it’s a bit more lightweight, but the bag is so tiny that it has to be changed after every other use, and that could get pricey 😐
Anyways, I love my Panasonic, and I hope this helped 🙂

  3. I had canister vacs until about 10 years ago and my husband decided to buy an upright. It lasted about 3 years and when we went to replace it the only thing we could find were uprights. I can’t wait until this one quits! I’ll never buy another upright. I noticed last week that K-Mart carries several models of Kenmore canisters……..my upright may fry soon……..
