We are beyond pleased with the performance of this vacuum. It’s hard to comprehend how we managed without it. We had a Rainbow vacuum, but tired of the messy task of filling and emptying the water canister. When we purchased the Eureka Capture Plus, after much research, we expected a step down in cleaning capacity after the expensive Rainbow, and were quite unprepared for the tremendous amount of dirt that the Eureka was pulling from our carpet. Pet hair is no match for this wonderful piece of equipment. The easy-out duster is amazing, and the quick switch capability to turn the brushes on and off are handy as well. Emptying the capture canister takes only a few seconds, and the pre-filters are a quick in and out as well. The replacement HEPA filter was about $18, but we vacuumed for 6 months before the indicator light signaled for a replacement.

Product is fantastic out of the box. I am very happy with the vacuum. I chose it because of other customer feedback. If you are having trouble with hepa vacs make sure that you are cleaning all filters on a weekly basis. There are 3 on this machine. The one up under the dirt basin should be removed and checked after each vacuum. The one under the basin consists of 2 filters, a black sponge about a half inch thick needs to be tamped and washed and a blue one under that which can be washed also, There is also a 4th filter which is the hepa filter. If you are taking care of the other 3 filters the hepa will only need replacement after the prescribed time reccomended by the manufacturer. I have seen lots of bad feedback regarding lack of suction, and I can’t imagine that is for other than a lack of filter cleaning. This machine has a very easy to detach and dump dirt basin, another reason I chose this machine. Flip the clip and pull out. It doesn’t have a cone in the center like many machines. The cone is there, it is just up and under the basin. Also it has the self driven feature so it is easy to push. I like the location of the on off switch, it is easy to see and easy to find. The on board attachments are minimal but well placed. If you need to use the wand, realize that you need to unwind it from the bottom to use or you will have a very short wand to use. It could be longer, or have an additional attachment, but I am okay with it. I borrowed an extension from one of my other vacuums to do my stairs. For the first run through my house, I emptied in each room at least twice. I wanted to see how much I was picking up (a lot) and I did not want to clog up the filters. After the whole run I washed the sponge and blue filter. I also cleaned the cone. The cone had about 1/8 of an inch of dirt and hair wrapped around it and the sponge had about 3/8 of an inch of very fine dirt particles. My air is clean today, you know how you look into the sunlight and look for dirt floating in the air? That is why I love this vacuum. I also can’t stop vacuuming now. I did my couch, lots of dirt, I did my sons mattress, lots of dirt. Oh ya and someone said this was great on bare floors and it is. That is another reason I chose this. It doesn’t throw dirt around like some. For the record, I have 2 dogs and 2 cats and pine trees outside. (Read that lots of pine needles that get indoors). Oh and one more thing, I was running this and what a pleasant smell was coming into the air! This unit is reconditioned and I don’t know if Eureka installs these air fresheners or if it was installed by an outside source, but I definetely liked the change from smelling dirt and dust to whatever nice scent I was smelling. Cord is nice and long, I don’t have to run around moving cord to different outlets or putting on an extension cord. Someone complained about a lack of clip for cord up by the handle. I just ran it through the handle and not a problem. 4 screws to use. 2 to attach handle and 2 to attach onboard attachment holder. Have a phillips ready. This unit is attractive and not overly heavy. If I had a two story house I would buy 2 of these so I have one on each level. That is pretty much how I feel about vacuums in general, but I would especially not want to hoist any vacuum heavier than an Oreck up or down stairs. (Orecks are about 7 pounds). This vacuum had everything I wanted, pet hair abilities, hepa filtration, self drive features, easy canister removal and not overly heavy. Ya!!!!! I bought this for the following features, Hepa, Pet hair abilities, self drive, easy to remove canister, Moderate weight. I got everything I was looking for at a very reasonable price. I would like one for my office and for upstairs. When budget allows I will highly consider this unit.

I will keep this short. Many people who complain about this vacuum haven’t lifted up the lid below the canister to wash out the foam filter. That is the point of the pet filter (duh). Even my own wife was about to get another vacuum and would not believe that that crazy foam would stop the suction. Well, it does. This vacuum stops the pet dander and other nasty stuff. If you keep the filters, all of them clean this thing will work for years and years. Oh yes, buy some of the foam filters and don’t be so cheap already! The tool is only as good as the operator. People never like to read the directions but it does help understand trouble shooting. I guess it is more fun to take “shots” online without fully understanding what is going on.
