  • This is the foam type washable primary filter for the Hoover Windtunnel Air Bagless Upright model UH70400, and UH70405.
  • This filter is located directly underneath of the Dust Cup Lid, and should be washed every 30 days to ensure peak performance of your WindTunnel Air.

The primary, washable filter assembly for the Windtunnel Air models is located inside of the top of the dirt bin. Once the dust bin assembly is removed from the vacuum cleaner, twist the lid/handle to expost the primary filter. Pull the tab on the filter to remove it from the dust bin. Rinse the filter under warm water, until the filter no longer is visibly dirty. It’s VERY IMPORTANT that this filter be air dried for at least 24 hours before reinstalling it into the vacuum for use. Many people puchase a spare filter to use while one is drying. It’s recommended that this filter be cleaned at least every 30 days, or if the vacuum suddenly looses suction.     Replacement works well, but I don’t recommend washing, November 3, 2014

    Good replacement and vital – I do not wash mine though. I remove the lint by hand that builds up – mostly in the center of the filter and then take it outside and bang the filter against a tree or wall depending on which way the wind is blowing. I tried washing these, but the lint clumped up inside the fabric and I couldn’t get rid of it. I’m sure it depends on what kind of carpet or flooring you have as to what ends up in this filter, but for me, tapping out the dust worked much better.

    Excellent purchase. I now have a filter to wash and one to use. I shake off the dirt and put it in a mesh laundry bag and throw it in the washer. Let it air dry for a day, and it’s ready to use again. Vacuum works so much better when you can rotate in a fresh clean filter every other day or so.
