2

I got a bissel power force bagless vacuum from a friends mom and she used it on her carpet when her dog pooped while she was potty training it so now every time i use it,it smells like dog poop.I have some arm and hammer carpet cleaner that i use before i vacuum but it doesn’t help.is there anything i could use to maybe put in the vacuum to get rid of the odor?

  1. Vacuuming up poop? Ick.

Try removing all of the filters. Put them in a bucket of soapy water, swish, let soak, then rinse well with clear water. Let dry COMPLETELY before putting them back in. You may also give them a good squirt with Febreeze or Lysol.

You may also want to do a ‘sniff test’ on each filter. If it stinks after you have cleaned them, throw it out and get a new filter.

You can also put some of the arm and hammer cleaner (OR use just plain baking soda) directly into the dirt cup. As the vacuum runs, the baking soda will fly around and hopefully, help deodorize the whole vacuum.

  2. Wash with a damp soapy cloth everything that can possibly be washed. BUT…I think it’s in the hose as well. Try vacuuming carpet deodorizer over and over again. Vacuum and spill it on the floor and vacuum it again over and over to force it through the vacuum system.
