  1. Cleaning the filters and trays will help a lot over time, but one thing that most people don’t realize is that dander and hair accumulates on the actual motor. What your smelling is the accumulated hair and dander being ‘heated’ by the motor.

Take off the outer shell of the vacuum and use a tootbrush and air duster can to clean off as much as you can from the actual motor. Chances are you’ll see the areas where the dust and dander collect. This should help.

  2. 1.Sprinkle some carpet fresh on the carpet once in awhile and vacuum it up. Start with a clean bag.:)
2.Perhaps put a fabric softener sheet, such as Bounce, in the bag.

3.Try vacuuming up a bunch of carpet deoderizer

  3. Clean thoroughly with vinegar & water and make sure the parts are totally dry. Spray just a bit of air freshener on the filter or put some scented rug powder in the tray part. This way the scent will be distributed while you are vacuuming. Just be sure never to vacuum when the carpet is damp as this is what is contributing to the "wet dog" smell.
